What is PR?

PR is basically how your company communicates with the outside world, how you present your company is very important. How you advertise whether it be in newspapers, magazines on TV, billboards and media you will want to protray the right as well as a good impression of your business. Any PR should be well structured and help to build strong relations with future customers.

Promotion of new services or products can be successfully completed with the help of a good PR scheme.

Before you start you should:

1. Make sure that your business is ready to take on and cope with the increased business you would gain through a PR campaign. Make sure it is srtong and has the relevant equipment and employees to handle the extra work load efficiently. If your business is already struggling then things may only get worse if your PR campaign is a success, your business may not be able to function well. Solve any problems before you decide to run a PR campaign.

2. Focus on the needs of your customers, not the needs of your business. If you know your product well then you should also know what your customers may expect and want from that product. May sure there is a need for what it is your selling and that what you are selling is what your customers want.

3. Define your audience. Understand who your target audience is. Make sure you have the right type of PR to attract the right type of customer. Advertise your business in the right way, appropriatley and at the right time. Getting the right PR for a targeted audience is hard , but it can really pay off.

Decide who you want to reach, then you can shape your PR plan:

Work out in advance what and how you are going to promote.Have a plan of action, list what you have to get done and when.

Second

Work out who your customers are and target them. Find out the needs of your customers then promote your service or product in the most effective and appropriate ways. Find out what types of media are going to work for you. See how other businesses similar to yours are advertising, wether it magazines, newspapers, tv, internet or radio. Find out who you need to speak to reguarding advertising, and plan well ahead.

Third

Build up contacts, get to know them well, good contacts can help your business thrive. You will be able to call on them when it matters. You may wish them to see what you have to offer personally, let them experience what you are selling to the public, that way they will be able to help you sell it.
